Pakistan Day celebrations kick off in UAE
ABU DHABI: The festivities of Pakistan Day kicked off not only in Pakistan but abroad as well where hundreds of Pakistani expatriates are living miles away from the homeland.
Dubai will celebrate Pakistan Day in full Pakistani style. The colours of Pakistan’s flag will shine on the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa on March 23 at 7:00pm. Furthermore, the ADNOC building in Abu Dhabi will also display Pakistani flag to celebrate Pakistan Resolution Day with full zeal and excitement. It will be a treat for the citizens of Dubai and Pakistanis living in Dubai. They can enjoy and celebrate Pakistan Day without being present in Pakistan.
In the capital of United Arab Emirates, the celebrations started with a diplomatic reception hosted by Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi where UAE Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was the chief guest.
Speaking with The News, the officers of Pakistan’s army felt an honor in saying that their struggle to safeguard the countries’ border bore fruits. Many officers of Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy attended the gathering with their bright uniforms decorated with Pakistan flag. While talking to The News, Pakistan Army officer Adnan proudly stated that he was honored and delighted to be a part of Pakistan Army.
Another officer, Qaiser spoke on the relations of Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE), adding that both nations have historic and brotherly association especially between armed forces of the two states. While naval officer Ahmed recalled the passion of March 23, 1940 because of which today we are breathing in an independent and sovereign country.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan praised the outstanding relations binding the two countries. While, the ambassador who is always reluctant to speak with the Pakistani media based in the emirates finally stated, “It is a great honour for Pakistan as the first time military contingent of UAE is participating in the parade of Pakistan Day.”
The diplomatic ceremony, which was held at the a five star hotel in Abu Dhabi, was also attended by Minister of State Dr Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Director of Diplomats Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohammed Ali Omran Al Shamsi along with a number of officials, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to the state and members of the Pakistani community in the country.
