LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz on Sharif on Wednesday stressed the need for efficient and optimum use of water and said Pakistan could be made a developed country by ensuring best use of water resources.
In his message on the World Water Day, the chief minister said the water resources could be best utilised to further strengthen the agricultural economy.
He said the Punjab government was working on different projects for providing clean drinking water to the people and an effective policy had been designed for the purpose. A careful use of water resources was a need of the hour amid the declining water resources, said Shahbaz.
Meanwhile, medical tests of the chief minister were conducted in London on Wednesday. The doctors took blood samples and the reports will be given in a few days, while tests are expected to be conducted.
On the other hand, Shahbaz expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious human lives due to falling of a passenger van in the Chakothi area in Azad Kashmir near the Line of Control.
In a separate message, he said the people of Lahore were proved as the best hosts with their lively participation in the PSL matches. “The peaceful holding of PSL 3 in Lahore is a success of peaceful Pakistan and the defeat of anti-peace elements,” he said.
“Mammoth public participation in these matches show that people are peaceful and they love sports,” he said and praised the relevant Punjab government departments for making best arrangements.
