KP govt approves promotions of 55,092 teachers
PESHAWAR: The provincial cabinet on Wednesday approved time-scale formula for thousands of teachers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department, having BPS-14 and above, promoting 55,092 teachers in the first phase.
This will be applicable to teachers having eight years of service in the current grade, said a handout.
The cabinet met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak at the Civil Secretariat.
The provincial cabinet members, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, and administrative secretaries also attended the meeting.
The cabinet approved school-based recruitment of teachers and reconstitution of the Textbook Board, amending rules to broaden its scope.
Representatives of Elementary and Higher Education and Finance Departments was given representation in the board to further strengthen role of the board.
The cabinet also approved in principle the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Elementary and Secondary Education Bill 2018.
The cabinet also approved a grant of Rs140 million for Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan.
It approved KP Education Monitoring Authority Bill 2018. With the passage of the said bill, the status of Independent Monitoring Unit will be upgraded to a full-fledged authority.
The Regulatory Authority had been established under section 26 of this ordinance; however, the procedure of recruiting the chairman and members of the authority had certain difficulties.
In order to remove the lacunas in the rules, the Higher Education Department prepared a draft of amendment, which was approved by the cabinet.
The Project Management Reforms Unit informed the cabinet that so far 45,000 complaints had been received of which 39,000 settled.
The cabinet was informed that 4,000 complaints pertained to cleanliness out of a total of 16,000 complaints received during the last four months.
For solution of this problem, the unit had proposed that those TMAs would be granted more funds as a motivation for good performance and awards would also be given to their staff.
The cabinet suggested an award of Rs30 million, Rs20 million and Rs10 million, respectively, as special grant for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holding organisations. The chief minister on the occasion directed that the policy of reward and punishment should be implemented in all the departments, adding that serious notice should also be taken of those who fail to deliver.
The cabinet also approved a summary bringing uniformity in salaries and perks of the chairmen and members of the authorities in regulatory bodies and commissions, according to which a grade-22 retired officer would have the facilities of MPI, Grade-21 retired officers to have MPII and Grade-20 officer would have MPIII, etc.
