PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Nawabzada Shakeel Afridi said on Tuesday that organisational problems within the party at local level had enhanced gap between the workers and leadership.

Speaking at a news conference here, he said that certain individuals had control over the party in the absence of proper organisational setup.

PTI activists Nawabzada Fazal Karim Afridi, Town-II Naib Nazim Naeem Ali Shah and others were also present.

Shakeel Afridi maintained that 6,000 members had been enrolled in his constituency, PK-9 as per the directives of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, which was a record but instead of recognising his services, he was issued show-cause notices.

He said he held a convention of PTI workers in Nawab Garhi in Jhagra last month, adding, thousands of workers from all the union councils attended the event.

Some provincial level PTI leaders opposed the holding of the convention, he said. He added that instead of accepting the invitation for the convention, the party’s district president Muhammad Ishtiaq issued him two notices.

Shakeel Afridi said that despite opposition from provincial leaders, PTI Members National Assembly Ali Mohammad Khan and Sajid Nawaz, Member Provincial Assembly Mehmood Jan Khan and Town-II Naib Nazim Naeem Ali Shah attended the convention. He called upon the party leadership to take notice of the illegal decision of the provincial leadership. He said the workers would resist every illegal decision of those who were not following the directives of Imran Khan.
