Ronchi to play final in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) highest run-getter and Islamabad United’s main wicketkeeper batsman Luke Ronchi on Monday announced he would play final for his team in Karachi.

Media manager Islamabad United Zukhraf Khan told ‘The News’ from Dubai that Ronchi was all set to travel to Karachi to play the final. “Ronchi would be travelling to Karachi to play the final and so are majority of the foreign players. These include JP Duminy, SR Patel, Walton and Samuel Badre.”

Ronchi struck five sixes and 12 fours during his hurricane 39-ball unbeaten 94 to take his team home in emphatic fashion. Sam Billings, however, had to head back to England to attend his county engagements there.

Meanwhile, Karachi Kings players have reached Lahore in the wee hours Tuesday to play in the second eliminator against the winner of Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators match.Foreign players travelling with the team include Joe Denly, Colin Ingram, Ravi Bopara, Tymal Mills and David Wiese.

Peshawar Zalmi’s foreign players who reached Lahore for the match on Tuesday include Daren Sammy (captain), Liam Dawson, Rikki Wessels, Chris Jordan and Andre Fletcher. Tamim Iqbal is due in Lahore before the match. Dwayne Smith was unable to travel to Pakistan due to family commitments.
