Shahbaz congratulates Li Keqiang over re-election

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Li Keqiang for being re-elected as the Chinese prime minister for second term and expressed best wishes for him.

In his message, the chief minister said the re-election depicted the confidence of Chinese people into his leadership abilities. “Li Keqiang has helped China to become globally strong economy in a short period of time with his leadership abilities. During the last five years, the Chinese has attained a global status and the lives of the people have been improved as well,” he noted. “Li Keqiang’s vision, commitment and continued hard work have helped China to emerge as a power in the world in a short span of time,” said the chief minister.

Separately, Shahbaz visited the residence of Sub-Inspector Aslam who embraced martyrdom in the Raiwind suicide attack Lakhowal village and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. He met with the family members and presented a cheque of financial grant worth Rs 12.25 million to the heirs. He also announced a free-of-cost house and medical facilities to the family as well as covering education expanses of the martyr’s sons and jobs for them – one in police and the other according to his educational qualification. The family would continue receiving the salary, Shahbaz added.

The chief minister said the police martyrs were the heroes of the whole nation and “it is our duty to look after their families”. He said, “The sacrifices of the loved ones will never be wasted. War against terrorism is the fight of the whole nation and it will take revenge of the blood of each and every martyr. This war will be fought till the elimination of the last terrorist.”

On the other hand, the chief minister congratulated Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan on assuming the charge of Pakistan Air Force. He also took notice of a news-item aired in a section of media about torture on the students in Gujrat and sought a report from the DPO. He ordered to hold the comprehensive investigations and said legal action should be initiated against the culprits.
