Sindh finally appoints first food authority DG

A year after the Sindh Assembly passed a bill to establish a provincial food authority, the government appointed the first director-general of the department, a notification said on Monday.
The notification, issued the chief secretary, said Amjad Ali Laghari, an officer of ex-PCS (BS-19), additional secretary of the food department, had been transferred and posted as director general of the Sindh Food Authority.
The provincial assembly had passed the Sindh Food Authority Bill 2016 on March 8 March, 2017, while and governor had given his assent to the bill on April 8 last year. The food authority among performing other responsibilities will regulate the functioning of food eateries and restaurants in the province.
