Subsidy scheme date extended

LAHORE : The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has extended the date for participating in subsidy scheme for provision of approved varieties of cotton seed to farmers under the banner of Khadim-e-Punjab Kissan Package.

Under the scheme, registered farmers of district Multan, Khanewal, Lodarhan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur will get seed of approved varieties of cotton and after opening the seed bag they will get a subsidy voucher of Rs700/- in each bag.

A spokesman for PAD said the subsidy voucher bags would be provided in April that was recommended sowing season for cotton crop.

He said unregistered farmers were advised to contact with Agriculture Helpline, Punjab on 0800-15000 and 0800-29000.

convocation: The first convocation of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) will be held on Tuesday at Fatima Jinnah Medical University.

According to a press release, rehearsal of the convocation will be on 18-19 March. A total of 260 students will be awarded degrees and position holder students will be conferred medals in the convocation.
