Another life cut short by kite twine

LAHORE : A three-year-old girl was killed after her throat was slit by a kite twine near Yateem Khana Chowk.

A man, Waseem Abbas, along with his wife, two sons and a three-year-old daughter Mahrukh was en route to his house on a bike when a kite string slit the throat of Mahrukh near Yateem Khana Chowk.

The injured girl was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Waseem and other family members also sustained injuries.

Police have registered a case of kite flying and murder against unidentified kite flyers. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident.

“Strict action should be taken against the violators and strict measures should be taken to implement the ban on kite flying across the province,” the chief minister ordered.

accidents: Twenty-one lives were lost and 663 people suffered injuries in the total 1,068 road accidents reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 from all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

The injured were removed to different hospitals. However, some 511 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid by the emergency medical teams.

The statistics show 226 accidents occured in Lahore, 111 in Faisalabad and 87 in Multan.

explodes: A woman and a girl were injured when a pressure cooker exploded in their house at Ichhra on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Saima, 30, wife of Saif ur Rehman, and Kanwal, 13, daughter of Abdullah. They have been admitted to hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl, Saadia, sustained burns in her house on Jan Muhammad Road near Katchi Kothi. She was rushed to hospital. He condition was stated to be precarious.
