LAHORE: Khuram Dastagir, the federal minister for defence, on Saturday said the government was focused on bringing down the cost of doing business to make Pakistani products competitive both in local and international markets.

“Establishment of new manufacturing facilities shows the country’s economic revival was in the making,” Dastagir said speaking at the inauguration of a paint plant in Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE).

“The growth of paint industry alone is reflective of improving economic activity in the country.”

Admitting that the issues of the country had not been resolved fully but reduced to a fair measure, Dastagir said Pakistan was in darkness (power outages) when the present government assumed charge in year 2013.

“With the initiatives taken by the sitting government the country is now producing sufficient energy,” the minister said adding that their endeavours for the economic turnaround have started bearing fruit.
