Pesco expedites drive against power theft

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has expedited the campaign against electricity theft across the province.

A statement issued here on Friday said that Chief Executive Pesco Dr Zakaullah Khan Gandapur issued the directives to expedite the drive against illegal use of electricity throughout the province.

A Pesco surveillance team headed by Director Surveillance Muhammad Israr Khan raided Usman Flour and Kanhar flour Mills Chinar Road in Mansehra and detected theft of electricity on very high scale.

Electric meters and cables were confiscated, the statement said, adding, direct connection had caused more than Rs20 million loss.

It is worth mentioning here that the facilities registered as flour mills were operating as Steel Mills.

Pesco lodged FIRs at the City Police Station in Mansehra against Muhammad Rafiq, Manager Usman Flour Mills and Shahjehan Khan, Manager Kanhar Flour Mills for power theft.

Meanwhile, power supply will remain suspended from 132 KV Peshawar Cantonment Gridstation from 8 am to 12 am due to installation of new panel and cable on March 18.
