LAHORE PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that selfless service for the masses is a mission of Pakistan Muslim League-N government which is being accomplished efficiently. He said this while presiding over a high level meeting in which progress on public welfare programmes and ongoing development projects was reviewed in detail. Members National Assembly and Punjab Assembly attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that a mega project had been started for providing clean drinking water to the people of the province. He said the PML-N government was ensuring completion of public welfare projects speedily and transparently in the province. He said the work on the development projects, costing billions of rupees, was continuing throughout the province for providing relief to the people. The chief minister said the journey of service for the people would continue with a new spirit and hard-work. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, country and the nation would be brought out of problems and put on the road to progress and prosperity. He said that in the first phase, more than 300 water filtration plants were being installed in four cities. He said the target had been fixed for providing potable water to most of the cities of Punjab by 2017. The chief minister said that billions of rupees had been allocated for the repair and construction of roads in rural areas under the Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme. He said the rural economy would progress speedily and new job opportunities would be created through implementation of Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme. He said the modern metro bus project had proved an important milestone in the infrastructure sector. Shahbaz Sharif said that more than 1.5 lakh people were travelling through the metro buses daily in Lahore. He said the metro bus project had changed the old transport system. He said the metro bus service was playing an important role in providing speedy, economical and comfortable travelling facility to the citizens. He said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project was in the final stages of completion which would soon be inaugurated. Expressing their views on the occasion, Assembly Members said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was serving the masses round the clock. They said the development projects had been completed transparently and expeditiously in the province. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Members National and Provincial Assembly Pervaiz Malik, Hamza Shahbaz, Daniyal Aziz, Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang, Sajid Mehdi, Rana Sanaullah, Mansha Ullah Butt, former MNA Saood Majeed, former MPA Sami Ullah and others attended the meeting. notice: Shahbaz Sharif, taking notice of the news regarding the death of a six-year-old child due to a firing during the marriage ceremony in Kahna, has sought a report from DIG Operations. According to a handout issued on Saturday, the CM has ordered the arrest of the accused involved in the firing incident. He also expressed sympathies and condolences with the heirs of the child.
