ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif ruled out rigging in 2018 general elections saying that the caretaker setup could not do anything beyond its constitutional mandate.

He said that the time had now much changed as the whole world and circumstances are different from the ones some years before. This he said while responding to a question posed by the media persons inside the accountability court what if the general elections might be rigged like the Senate elections.

To another question if caretaker government might try to manage the elections what his strategy would be, Nawaz Sharif said that the caretaker setup could not do anything beyond its constitutional mandate. Nawaz Sharif also dispelled an impression that there were hurdles in the general elections and it could get postponed. He said that the elections would be held on time. He repeated his previous statement and said that last day he expressed astonishment at the matter that why all the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Karachiites bowed at the same place in front of Sadiq Sanjrani. It looked as everyone was following the GPS and they reached the same destination simultaneously. He said that the reason should be known to the public.

Nawaz Sharif also questioned minister of state for interior Talal Chaudhry if he had been indicted. To which he replied that not yet. At this Nawaz Sharif advised him not to worry, everything would be fine with the grace of Allah Almighty.
