P&D By chairman, health secretary appear before NAB

LAHORE: Planning & Development Chairman Jahanzaib Khan and Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education, Punjab, Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah appeared before NAB Tuesday in 56 companies’ scandal established by the Punjab government.

They submitted all the record and their statements. In an official statement issued Tuesday, spokesman for NAB said that pictures of four suspects, arrested in the Ashiana Iqbal scandal, have been released. These pictures dispel impression that the suspects have been tortured.

NAB’s team is investigating the suspects according to the law. We are expecting disclosures until the remand is completed. In the light of their revelations, record from different departments has been sought. The report regarding the disclosures by the accused will be submitted during hearing in the accountability court on 20 March.

found dead: A 35-year-old man was found dead in his house in the area of Mughalpura on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Akram hailed from Vehari and lived in a rented quarter at Shalimar Colony.

A 22-year-old youth died under mysterious circumstances in the Baghbanpura area. The deceased identified as Ahsan Waheed hailed from the Shalamar area. It is suspected some poisonous substance claimed his life.

A decomposed body of a 35-year-old man was found from the canal at Lal Pul Mughalpura. The body’s condition suggested that it was two to three days old, police said. Police have removed the bodies to morgue.

Man dies: A man was killed by a speeding truck at Chungi Amarsadhu Bridge on Tuesday. The victim, yet to be identified, was on his way when a rashly-driven truck hit and killed him.

accidents: Total 914 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 from all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Five people were killed and 651 injured in the accidents. The injured were removed to hospitals. However, some 396 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were provided with first aid by the emergency medical teams.

reunited: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) Central Zone Guidance Centre has reunited a 11-year old boy with his family.

The boy identified as Daniyal, son of Mustafa, had left his house three days back after having an exchange of harsh words with his father. The boy was handed over to his maternal uncle after completion of the formalities. The NH&MP zonal commander appreciated the efforts of the officers.

Arrested: A man was arrested after he arrived from Greece by a flight for illegal border crossing to reach Greece.

Accused Naveed Hussain Shah of Gujranwala arrived from Greece where he had gone in the year 2015 via land route illegally crossing borders of Iran and Turkey without any travel document. He had paid a huge amount to a human smuggler for that. He will be handed over to the FIA AHTC.

Emergecy: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has said the emergency helpline 15 received total 561,815 in January and February, 2018, out of which, 438,800 (78 percent) calls were bogus or fake.

Follwing 51,806 calls, cases were generated on genuine actionable concerns. As many 30,486 call were made for seeking information and consultation only. Through 4815 calls, burglary and theft incidents were reported. About 1,194 calls were the complaints pertaining to eve-teasing or harassment.

PSCA received 39 calls regarding attempts of murder/homicide, 494 kidnapping and 1,520 for firing into the air. For the Loudspeaker Act violation, road blockade and bike snatching, 30, 194 and 84 complaints were received, respectively on 15 helpline. For the integrated services such as rescue, fire brigade and traffic management concerns, 3945, 423 and 7,716 calls were received, respectively on the Universal Emergency Helpline 15. About 129 vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners who had reported complaints through PSCA Public Safety Android Application in addition to calling 15 emergency helpline.

Promoted: Pakistan Railway Tuesday issued transfer notifications of two officers of BS 21. M&S Carriage Factory Islamabad General Manager Ijaz Ahmad has been promoted as Additional General Manager Mechanical while Zafar-ullah Kaloor has been prompted as Additional General Manager Infrastructure and transferred to Railway Headquarters.
