‘Limits set for women in Islam are a blessing’

LAHORE: Strong, vibrant societies progress by adhering to social and family values, and women having the responsibility of bearing human race enjoy the highest status of the custodian of civilization. Woman is the main pillar of civilization and society since she is primarily responsible for grooming and educating future generations.

This was the consensus observation by prominent speakers from abroad and Pakistan at an international women conference titled “The Women is the pillars of civilization”, organized by Dukhtaran Pakistan in collaboration with International Women Union, Punjab University, Lahore College University and Government of Women University Sialkot, in connection with World Women Day, here on Monday. Women speakers from Indonesia, Sweden, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Iraq, Thailand, china, Norway, Italy, turkey, Jordan and Lebanon participated in the conference besides large number of students.

They stressed that Islam has gives woman the most respectable position in society as mother, sister, daughter and wife and made her the most prestigious entity of the universe by making her responsible for the upbringing of the new generation. The responsibility of bearing human race depicts the high rank of woman. The boundaries set for women by our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) should be considered as a blessing. They said Islam liberated women from the economic hardships to fulfil their prime duties as the bearers and trainer of responsible human race but also gave them the freedom to work and privileged them with shares in property and finance. It is the beacon of hope for women all over the world. Man, on the other hand, is obliged to earn for financial maintenance of the family.

During dialogue and group discussions on eight different topics, the speakers agreed that women are the actual guardian of civilization and social values and traditions. They said if women realise the prominence of her responsibly, she can enjoy great powers and revolutionize civil society. The physical, emotional and mental tranquillity of a woman is vital for her efficient contribution towards the prosperity of her family and society.

In Syria, Yemen, Palestine and Myanmar and many other countries women are suffering because of war and terrorism. The negative outcome of this is obvious. The precious life of women and children are not safe anymore. The ongoing violence in the world is the message of destruction of women. If woman is not saved, civil society will come crashing down.
