QAU to open for academic activity on Monday: VC
Islamabad : The Quaid-i-Azam University will be open for normal academic activity on Monday (March 12). Students, faculty, and the general public are asked to ignore the call for any disruption of classes, said the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Javed Ashrf.
While talking to ‘The News,’ he said that the Academic Staff Association has been calling for the VC’s resignation. Unfortunately, in spite of repeated efforts by the deans and the registrar, the ASA leadership has refused to meet with the administration.
The Vice Chancellor said that increasing lawlessness of the ASA is a matter of serious concern. A week ago, current president of the ASA Aqeel Bukhari forced the staff members of the vice chancellor out of their office, and had their room locked. “He has been served a notice to provide written explanation of this illegal act. Should he fail to provide an acceptable response, he will be proceeded against as per law” said the VC.
Dr. Javed Ashraf said that the ASA’s recent accusation that the vice chancellor has been “harassing faculty members or issuing them notices and explanation calls” is completely false. It is also completely untrue that any faculty member’s salary has been illegally deducted. He said that a recent charge that the VC was dismissed from IBA where he served as director is absurd. A defamation notice against the ASA president for this total fabrication is being prepared.
