ATC acquits accused in IB official’s murder case

PESHAWAR: The anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday acquitted an accused in the murder of case of Intelligence Bureau (IB) director. Muhammad Arif, who was a director in the IB, was murdered in 2013.The ATC acquitted the accused, Waheed alias Abu Bakr, belonging to Orakzai Agency. He had been charged with murder of Muhammad Arif. He was martyred on July 12, 2013 at Shah Wali Qatal and the case was registered under Section 302 of the PPC read with Section of 7 Anti-Terrorism Act. Shabbir Gigyani said there was no evidence against the accused and there were illegality in the confessional statement. The prosecution failed to prove the charges against the accused for lack of evidence.
