DUBAI: Luke Ronchi is enjoying a purple patch these days and believes that a “clear mind” is the reason behind his consistent showing in the HBL Pakistan Super League.

The 36-year-old dealt Lahore Qalandars with a fatal blow, hitting a stunning 77 after recording PSL’s fastest fifty to help Islamabad United beat their opponents by six wickets here at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday evening.

Asked what was his recipe for success, Ronchi said that he has eliminated negative thoughts from his mind.“I’m just trying to keep a clear mind. Nice and relaxed. That’s when your natural abilities show. Any negative thoughts, and your performance goes down,” he said.

Ronchi hailed PSL saying that the T20 league is serving as an excellent platform for previously little-known Pakistani cricketers.“The skill level [of the players] is really good. There are guys you’ve never even heard of, and they come in and bowl at 140kph, or they whack the ball miles. It’s been a brilliant tournament so far,” he said.

Ronchi, who has played international cricket for both Australia and New Zealand, also hailed the leadership of Islamabad United captain Misbah-ul-Haq.“Being around Misbah is good. The calmness flows [from him],” he said.
