Two held for firing into air over PML-N Senate win

MULTAN: Punjab police on Saturday night arrested two youths over aerial firing to celebrate the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-backed candidate Rana Mehmoodul Hassan in the Senate elections.

The arrested were identified as M Farhan and M Umar. An FIR had also been registered against them. The authorities have also recovered weapon from them. Mepco issues power supply suspension schedule: Power supply from Al-Halal and Vehari Road feeders of 11-KV will remain suspended due to installation of new electric poles on Monday (today). According a press release issued here on Sunday, Mepco authorities have decided to install new electric poles of 11-KV at Al-Halal and Vehari Road feeders to resolve the low voltage issues. The office issued power suspension plan to facilitate consumers.

The feeders of 132-KV Shujabad grid stations, including Basti Malook, Al-Fazal, Sadaruddin Shah, Shabbir Chicks, Imam Shah, Sub-Jail, TV, Al-Fareed, Industrial, Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan and Qasba Marral feeders would face power suspension from 8:30am to 2:30pm on March 5. Moreover, 11-KV Al-Karam City and Khawaja Khudayar feeders would face power suspension from 8:30am to 2:30pm on March 6 due to some maintenance work. Similarly, power supply will remain suspended from 8:30am to 2:30pm on March 5 (today) at 132-KV Chobara grid station, from 8:30am to 9:30am at 66-KV Karor Laal Eason and from 8:30am to 3:30pm on March 5 at 11-KV Talibwala, Waran Seeran, Sunny-II Laal Eason feeders due to repairing work, it said.

Nawaz Sharif varsity to offer vegetables nursery to citizens: Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) will offer prepared nursery of different vegetables to citizens for promoting kitchen gardening in the area.

MNSUA Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Ali inaugurated the marketing set up of vegetables here on Sunday. The prepared nursery of vegetables was arranged in collaboration with Pakistan Agriculture Research Council, Agri Innovation Programme and USAID.

The citizens will get vegetable nursery from different points of the city. Provision of nursery will help promote neat and clean vegetables to citizens. Lecturer Nabeel Ahmed while laying importance on kitchen gardening, said that students could grow vegetables in their houses. He said that citizens could place online order and get nursery at their doorstep. Agriculture experts from various departments were also present on the occasion.

34 motorcycles with impounded: The police impounded 34 motorcycles for incomplete documents during a general crackdown launched in the city on Sunday. Police checked 106 motorcycles and impounded 34 of them for incomplete documents.

Police have also arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 1,170 gram Hashish from their possession. Four proclaimed offenders have also been apprehended by the police, said the police sources. Meanwhile, two illegal weapons holders were arrested with a pistol, a rifle and rounds. Cases have been registered against the criminals.
