Won’t comment on hearsay like Imran: Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday said he is reviewing the ongoing controversy regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's Banigala residence. Speaking to the media after appearing in the accountability court, Nawaz Sharif said unlike Imran Khan, he will not spread unverified allegations on hearsay. He added that he will make a statement on the matterafter reaching a conclusion on the subject.
The Supreme Court is hearing a case pertaining to illegal structures in Banigala locality on the capital’s outskirts. “I have heard that the PTI chairman has submitted a fake no objection certificate (NOC) regarding his Banigala residence in the Supreme Court. I am trying to understand the real issue, consulting lawyers and party workers in this regard and after reaching some conclusion, I will issue a statement over this,” Nawaz said.
“There is a major difference between Imran Khan and me. I cannot lie and hurl baseless allegations on the basis of hearsay. The Supreme Court is hearing this matter and we’ll see what the apex court decides in this particular matter,” he added. Nawaz Sharif said that Babar Awan had first raised this issue of illegal construction in 2008.
