6 security personnel martyred in Quetta suicide attack, firing
QUETTA: Six security personnel were martyred in suicide blasts and firing incidents in Quetta. A suicide attack targeting a camp of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Levies martyred at least four security personnel, said security sources. While two police personnel were martyred when unknown armed assailants opened fire at vehicle of DSP at Smanguli Road area of Quetta on Wednesday.
In the first terrorists incident four security personnel were martyred in a suicide attack targeting a camp of FC. The attack also injured eight FC personnel deployed at the installation. The explosion took place in Nauhisar area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, reported Geo News on Wednesday.
Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed that around 10kg of explosives were used in the attack. BDS personnel swept and declared the area clear after the attack. BDS personnel added that the attacker arrived on foot at the security forces camp.
The area was cordoned off by security forces after the attack and the injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
In Punjab, the province's top police official ordered to maintain high alert. He also instructed security to be increased across the province's important and sensitive installations.
Earlier today, two policemen were martyred in a targeted attack on the convoy of a police officer. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto strongly condemned the terror attack in Quetta and expressed grief at the loss of lives.
Bilawal said the recent terror attacks are a result of not implementing the National Action Plan effectively and added that every attack is reminder that the incumbent rulers are incompetent.
PTI chairman Imran Khan also condemned the attack and expressed sorrow at the loss of lives. He asked the government to conduct an immediate inquiry into the attack and added that Pakistan has sacrificed the most in the war against terror.
APP adds: Two police personnel were martyred and a child was injured when unknown armed assailants opened fire at vehicle of DSP Abdul Hameed Dasti at Smanguli Road area of Quetta on Wednesday.
According to police sources, DSP Abdul Hameed Dasti along with police personnel was on way to office from his house when armed assailants opened fire at them and fled from the scene.
As a result, two police personnel died on the spot after receiving bullet wounds and a passerby child Samiullah suffered injuries while DSP Abdul Hameed Dasti was luckily escaped.
The bodies and the injured were rushed to civil hospital where the victims were identified as Muhammad Tahir and Muhammad Ayub.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the heirs after completion of legal formalities.
Law enforcement agencies reached the site and cordoned off the entire area and started efforts to arrest suspects. Further investigation was underway.
