LAHORE: Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel has called upon the masses not to be part of such political and religious parties which provoke them for violence because religion and politics are not meant for creating turmoil and conflicts.

He said this during his lecture organised by Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs at Faisal Auditorium on Wednesday. He advised the students not to become a tool of such politicians and Molvis who were driving them towards negative directions.

PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zakria Zakar, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Faculty of Engineering and Technology dean Prof Dr Muhammad Taqi, Director Students Affairs Shahid Gul and a large number of students were present. Maulana Tariq Jameel said, "The people who are dividing us into sects and the politicians who are using our Ummah for their own negative politics are big terrorists. Fanning the feelings of hatred in the name of religion is against the teachings of our religion. We must not cultivate hate against anyone in our hearts." Prof Dr Zakria Zakar said that knowledge and tolerance were interconnected. He said that the administration would make PU an emblem of knowledge, peace and welfare.
