HEC training workshop commences

The 2nd five-day Higher Education Commission (HEC) funded indigenous on-campus training (IOT) workshop on Financial Management started at Pir Mehr Ali Shah — Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Tuesday.
This capacity building workshop is designed for the non-teaching staff of BPS-16 and above cadre to promote good governance on campus and to bridge the distance between all university stakeholders. The workshop will also provide an excellent opportunity to participants for sharing of knowledge/experiences and capacity building at door step which will ultimately bring into play towards the betterment and development of University. This comprehensive workshop, comprising of 15 sessions, will cover several diverse topics such as financial economics, capital budgeting, valuation, capital structuring, payout policy etc and more than 30 officials are participating.
In the inaugural ceremony, chief guest, PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad said that one of the most pressing challenges of 21st century is the improvement of quality of services in higher education institutions. He stressed on the necessity of such trainings for the management and administrative staff, who, according to him, are one of the main stakeholder of any educational institutes along with the teachers and students. He uttered that such trainings are absolutely essential for the individual’s professional growth and would ultimately benefit the organization. He appreciated the HEC training programs for enhancing the professional skills of the administrative staff of the universities. He recognized the need of intensive in-service training of the administrative & finance officers, building their capacity to upgrade financial management system of their respective institution. It is a significant opportunity for the participants to polish their skills for future services, he added.
Dr. Yaseen Bhatti, convener of the workshop, in his address briefed about the objectives of the training workshop. He informed that the 2nd phase of on-campus training workshop is another opportunity for the employees to advance their professional skills and improve the workplace efficiency. He added that it would be an interactive sessions of the participants with the professional experts who will share their valuable knowledge of their fields with the participants. It’s an opportunity for the participants to gain knowledge and improve their efficiency at the workplace.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Syeda Irum Umer, coordinator of the workshop, also admired the opportunity provided by Higher Education Commission to the administrative staff to learn new knowledge and improve their professionalism. He hoped that participants would refine their skills and work with more zeal and zest to serve the University and the country.
