MINGORA: The officials of the security forces on Friday informed the Swat Qaumi Jirga that practical steps had been taken to provide relief to the people at the security checkposts in the district.
The meeting with the members of the Swat Qaumi Jirga was also attended by the officials of the district administration.The meeting had been convened to discuss the situation that had arisen in the aftermath of protests by the local people against the strict checking at the security checkposts and subsequent registration of cases under anti-terrorism laws against them. The protestors at Mingora and Khwazakhela had demanded removal of the roadside security checkposts.
The jirga members informed the officials of the security forces and district administration about the hardships being faced by the local people at the security checkposts and due to other actions carried out for security reasons in Swat.
The security forces’ officials informed the jirga members about various steps taken to minimise the hardships the people were facing during routine movement. They assured further measures would be taken to provide maximum relief to the people at the security checkposts and during other security-related actions.
