Railways Athletics get under way
LAHORE: The two-day 63rd annual Pakistan Railways Inter-Divisional Athletics Championship started here at the Railway Stadium on Friday.
Over 350 athletes from 9 member units of Pakistan Railways Sports Board (PRSB) including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Workshops, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, Karachi are participating for top honours.
Mrs Parveen Agha, Chairperson Railways, Inaugurated the championship along with Javed Anwar, CEO/Sr General Manager Pakistan Railways. Ali Zaryab Asif, international cricketer, led the march past. Ms Zaib-un-Nisa, international women hockey player, held the flag of PRSB. All Divisional Superintendents and Divisional Sports Officers of Pakistan Railways also witnessed the events. The chief guest said on the occasion that Railway is a big platform for sportsmen and has produced many renowned international players in every discipline. Senior officers of Pakistan Railways Muhammad Tahir, Prof Dr. Abadat Yar Khan, Dr. Aftab Iqbal Ch and Rashad Mahmood Butt were also present on the occasion.
