Security for Chinese workers to be ensured: Punjab home minister

LAHORE: Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada has said protection of Chinese working on various projects in Punjab is the responsibility of the government and a special protection unit headed by deputy inspector general is providing them with foolproof security.
He said this during a meeting with the Chinese Consul General Yu Boren who called on him here Monday. Political secretary of the consul general and Secretary Internal Security of Interior Ministry Col Wajahat Hamdani were present. Khanzada said almost three thousand Chinese were working on various projects in Punjab and 7,000 police officers and officials besides military guards, special branch and rangers were deputed for their security. He assured the consul general of every possible protection to the Chinese in the province.
Chinese Consul General Yu Boren expressed satisfaction over cooperation and steps taken by the Punjab government for the protection of Chinese national and said the Chinese companies would make more investment in Pakistan as a result of the upcoming visit of Chinese president and various agreements would be signed. He said Pakistan’s economy would strengthen due to economic corridor it will join the ranks of developed countries. He said as a result of economic corridor job opportunities will become available resulting in poverty alleviation. He said Chinese companies will invest 45 billion dollars in the province. He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the Punjab government for eliminating terrorism.
