RAWALPINDI: Abdullah Aftab beat Abdullah Shafqat in deciding super tiebreak to win the men’s singles title in the Major Ishaq Shaheed Twin Cities Tennis Championships at the Sirajul Haq Tennis Club here.
In a thrilling contest, Abdullah Aftab beat Abdullah Shafqat 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 to annex the title.Major General Rehan Abdul Baqi, who is also president of the Sirajul Haq Tennis Club, and Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal were the guests of honour on the occasion. Both presented the shields and trophies to the winners and runner-ups of the championship.
A special appearance was made by Major Ishaq Shaheed’s unit’s officer Lieutenant Zahid, who delivered a speech on the life of Major Ishaq Shaheed and his services to the Army and nation.

Boys’ Under-13 singles final: Rayanul Haq bt Ibrahim Ahmed 6-3, 6-4.
Boys’ Under-18 singles final: Abdullah Shafqat bt Ali Zubair 6-3, 6-3.
Men’s seniors doubles final: Col Shafqat and Nazik Khan bt Capt Abdul Qadir and Mustafa Asghar 7-5, 6-3.
