‘Steps taken to supply camel milk in markets’

FAISALABAD: The Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department has made special arrangements to supply pure and fresh camel milk in markets.

It was said by Livestock Director Dr Muhammad Nawaz Malik while talking to media here on Friday. He said that camel milk was a gift of nature, which was being provided to markets in a safe packing of one litre plastic bottle after transportation from Cholistan.

He maintained that the project of supply of organic milk of camel was introduced by Punjab Livestock Secretary Nasim Sadiq, which is a revolutionary step of the Livestock Department. Now, he added, camel milk was being introduced in markets in an organised manner first time in the history of Pakistan. He said that camel milk would be available initially on 14 outlets in the city.

Giving benefits of camel milk, the Livestock director informed that it was very beneficial for human consumption especially for diabetic and rheumatic patients. The director said that camel milk had high minerals and immunoglobulin, which were anti-body.

HEALTH WEEK: On the directions of the Punjab government, the second health week will be observed in the district from February 19. In this connection, 44 health camps would be set up at different THQ hospitals, Rural and Basic Health Centres for medical examination of the people, said Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani while giving briefing to newsmen here on Friday.

He informed that facilities would be provided to the people at these health camps for the tests of diabetes, malaria, hepatitis, TB and other diseases besides carrying out the counseling of the patients regarding their health. The DC informed that medical camps would be established at Samanabad, Chak Jhumra, Jaranwala, Samundri, Tandlianwala, RHC at Chak 153/RB, Chak 65/GB, Khurrianwala, Satiana, Chak 134/GB, Chak 469/GB, Mamoonkanjan, Kanjwani, Dijkot and Chak 30/JB, Basic Health Units at Chaks 189/RB, 44/JB, 133/RB, 222/RB, 214/RB, 283/GB, 105/RB, 76/RB, 200/RB, 635/GB, 560/GB, 353/GB, 433/GB, 115/GB, 143/GB, 228/GB, 50/GB,198/GB, 136/GB, 404/GB, 429/GB, 400/GB, 603/GB, 192/RB, 66/JB, 74/JB, 209/RB, 258/RB and 57/JB. The DC said that the health camps would work from 8am to 4pm during the health week.
