Homage paid to Asma Jahangir, Munnu Bhai
LAHORE: The Lahore Press Club organised a condolence reference for former president of Supreme Court Bar Association and Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Asma Jahangir and Munnu Bhai.
The participants paid tribute to late Asma Jahangir and Munnu Bhai and praised their services for the legal community as well as for the human rights and children. Qamar Zaman Kaira said, “These legends are the true face of Pakistan. Asma was the voice of millions and she will remain in the hearts of people. Munnu Bhai always worked for the citizen of this country. He played a vital role in saving the life of the children suffering from thalassaemia. Asma had the strength to speak out for people. Labours, women, transgender, Hindus, Sikhs and a large number of people used to see her as their true leader.” He lashed out as there was not enough audience present in the hall. He said it’s a big dilemma that as a nation we do not have time to acknowledge our superheroes.
He said, “Nawaz Sharif is now offering jobs to youths after 30 years of rule. Sharjeel Memon‘s name was put on ECL without any reference and they are hesitating to put Sharif family’s name on ECL. The ousted PM is degrading the court in his every statement. We wonder what will happen to our country if they will not be punished.” Hina Jilani, Hussain Naqi, Saleema Hashmi and Chaudhry Manzoor also spoke.
