PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central leader, Faryal Talpur, on Thursday withdrew the recent decision of nominating office-bearers of the People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She announced the decision in a meeting with the newly elected office-bearers from KP, which was arranged in Islamabad.

The PPP central leadership had recently notified the names for PYO in the light of the recommendations of the party’s provincial office-bearers.

Malik Amjad and Hanif Khan were elected provincial president and Information secretary, PYO respectively while Sami Khan as secretary general.

However, Sami Khan was allowed to work as secretary general for the time being.

It may be recalled that the PYO office-bearers led by their former provincial president Ghulam Mustafa, vice-president Qari Khalid Khan and Sajid Paindakhel had launched a province-wide protest drive to protest what they termed unilateral decision of the provincial office-bearers.

The PYO former office bearers hailed the decision and called off their protest movement on Thursday.

Former vice-president Qari Khalid thanked the party’s central leaders Asif Zardari, Faryal Talpur and Bilawal Bhutto for withdrawing the decision. He hoped it would strengthen the party’s organisations.

Qari Khalid said that both the president and information secretary of PYO were over-aged for the offices. The central leadership had authorised Nayyar Hussain Bukhari to check their national identity cards before withdrawing the earlier decision.
