CAS Open Golf Championship from Feb 15

KARACHI: The 37th Chief of the Air Staff Open Golf Championship is all set to commence at Airmen Golf Course, PAF Base Korangi Creek, Karachi, from February 15.

This was announced at a press conference at PAF Base Korangi Creek. Squadron Leader Mohsin Khan addressed the press conference along with Wing Commander (Retd) I N Khokhar, former national player and ex-PAF champion, and Syed Shahjahan Salahuddin, Advisor Airmen Golf Club.

Mohsin, who is also the Staff Operation Officer and In-charge Sports of PAF Base Korangi Creek, welcomed the guests. “Chief of the Air Staff Open Golf Championship, being the flagship championship of Pakistan Air Force, is the biggest national Golf championship of Pakistan in which the winner is awarded handsome prize money,” said Mohsin.

“Last year the prize money offered was Rs4 million which is now raised to Rs8 million for this year’s champion. Besides, two cars are also made available for exciting Hole in One opportunity for players,” he added.

In the tournament, golfers from all over the country are invited to play in categories of Professional, Senior & Junior Professional, Amateurs, Ladies and Airmen Golf Club Members. Around 350 players are participating in the four-day tournament, 70 of them professionals.

Airmen Golf Club at PAF Base Korangi Creek is spread over 7300 yards. “A lot of efforts have been made to live up to the standards of the golfers and sporting community of Karachi area,” said Mohsin. “It also offers a secure location and environment under the supervision of PAF Base Korangi Creek,” he added.

This year Jang Media Group is on board as the official media partners. “I hope with such participation of Federations, Media and Sponsors, PAF will remain steadfast in her commitment for the promotion of sports,” added Mohsin.
