Shah Latif Varsity selection board invites candidates
SUKKUR: The Shah Abdul Latif University Selection Board has invited the candidates who have completed the HEC codal formalities to appear before it. This was stated by the university spokesperson. The spokesperson said the candidates who were rejected or not recommended in the last Selection Board will be given another chance to reappear after the advertisement of their posts. This advertisement, he said will be published within a week in the national dailies. The spokesperson added the Vice Chancellor has assured the teaching community that the next Selection Board would be convened very soon along with the meeting of Syndicate. He told the reporters that the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah has also constituted a Scrutiny Committee to scrutinize the research papers of the candidates in line with the HEC criteria. The committee comprises departmental chairmen, deans of the respective faculties and the director ORIC. Meanwhile, the protest and sit-in by the Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association entered the 11th day on Friday against the alleged corruption, discrimination and nepotism by the university administration. The protesters led by President Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association, and comprising Prof Dr Minhoon Khan Leghari ( SALUTA), Prof Dr Amir Ali Chandio, Prof Ishart Mirani, Prof Masihullah Jatoi, Prof Muhammad Ali Birohi, Dr Manan Shaikh continued with the sit-in at the Administration Block. Talking to media, they deplored the fact NAB is investigating three corruption references against the SALU vice chancellor who is on protective bail. They alleged that Registrar, Prof Asad Raza Abidi, is denying promotions, pensions and award of MPhil, PhD degrees in light of the HEC rules to the rival teachers’ group. Demanding the Registrar’s removal, they termed his appointment as illegal and violative of the decision of the Supreme Court. They also demanded supply of clean water and generator facility as well as chemicals for the laboratories. They said their struggle would continue till the acceptance of their demands. In a related development, senior professors of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Prof Dr. Ameer Shar, Maqsood Zia, Muhammed Hassan Khaskheli, Ghulamuddin, Ghulam Abbas Shar criticised a teachers group trying to force the Vice Chancellor to get illegal promotions without fulfilling the codel formalities set by the Higher Education Commission.
