‘Everyone has to contribute to make PSL final successful’

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that all the agencies, institutions and also citizens of Karachi have to work together to make the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Karachi memorable and historic so that it could pave the way for more international events.

He said this while presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for the PSL-3 final in Karachi which is slated for March 25.The meeting was attended by all the relevant stakeholders.

The Chief Minister, while giving guidelines, said that there should be a close coordination between the stakeholders and all security-related departments and agencies.“I have already issued directives for the provision of civic facilities,” he said.

IG Police AD Khowaja told the chief minister that he had sent a team to Lahore to observe security arrangements for the international cricket match played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on October 29, 2017.

“The same security model with some improvements would be implemented here,” he said. The chief minister constituted different committees and assigned them the task. The Executive Committee, headed by Chief Secretary, would monitor the progress.

Murad directed the civic agency which is under the local government to make arrangements for the provision of lighting, drinking water, parking sites, cleanliness and medical facilities. The meeting decided that there would be aerial surveillance which would be provided by Corps Commander Karachi. Commandos would be deployed around the stadium and the police would take control inside the stadium.

The CM also directed the IG police to identify and declare alternate traffic routes for public convenience. “We have to facilitate each and every person who wants to witness the match at the stadium,” he said.

The Law Enforcement Agencies would make a full dress rehearsal on February 11. The CM announced to convene another meeting on February 14 to review security arrangements.
