‘Pak-India good ties impossible sans Kashmir issue resolution’
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan astute diplomat and former permanent representative for the United Nation’s Geneva headquarters Zamir Akram has maintained that Pakistan-India friendship is not possible as long Kashmir dispute isn’t resolved fairly since India is not even ready so far to accept the existence of Pakistan.
He was addressing a workshop on Kashmir here on the occasion of Solidarity Day with people of Kashmir on Monday. International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum for Kashmir) arranged the one day workshop on the occasion, titled “Developing Effective Leadership Skills”, at Islamabad Hotel. Key leadership trainers included Pakistan’s distinguished former permanent representative to the United Nations Geneva Ambassador Zamir Akram who held significant diplomatic assignments as career Foreign Affairs officer, senior advocate Supreme Court Ahmad Raza Khan Kasuri, development communication expert Ms. Zartasha Niazi, Director YFK Ahmed Quraishi, financial adviser Sohail Khan Kiani, and others.
Ambassador Zamir Akram shared his experiences at UN Geneva that how he convinced diplomats & high echelon decision makers for Pakistan. In relevance with the Kashmir conflict, he expressed under his practical experience that India-Pakistan friendship is impossible and India is not even ready to accept the existence of Pakistan. Ahmad Raza Kasuri expressed his views and practices that how a lawyer can become activist/lobbyist for the cause of Kashmir.
Sardar Niazi shared that how to use media as a lobbying tool. Ms. Niazi gave a presentation on her practical experiences about lobbying for a current crisis of child abuse. Ahmad Quraishi emphasised on human rights activism that how to build a great personality and integrity.
