LAHORE: Terming former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a beast, a cancer and a thief, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said even Allah would not forgive the nation if Nawaz was pardoned again, as it had become necessary to remove him.

Addressing a charged gathering of PPP workers at the Mochi Gate to express solidarity with the people of held Kashmir, the former president said the resident of Jati Umra had no concern for the woes of Kashmiris.

“He has become a menace for this land. Almighty Allah, save us from this cancer so that we can rebuild Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and turn it into a land where Bilawal could live with his brothers,” said the PPP-P head. He said Nawaz wanted to usurp everything and had damaged the roots of Pakistan to strengthen his kingdom, adding he didn’t have any idea about the significance of CPEC and considered it merely a scheme to seek loan.

Zardari, coming hard on Nawaz, said the volume of loans sought by the PML-N during the last four and a half years was three times greater than the amount taken since the creation of Pakistan. “Who will repay this loan? Their children live abroad. Will the children of this country pay this debt?” asked Zardari. He said power has never been the objective of PPP, as even Pervez Musharraf was ready to share it with the party, but they extended support to Nawaz for the sake of democracy. He said the PPP accepted the PML-N government in Punjab in 2008 only for democracy and to oust the dictator.

Zardari on the occasion also claimed that Musharraf had reached an agreement with India on the Kashmir issue but the army generals didn’t accept when Musharraf shared it with them. He said some people have no interest in the issue of Kashmir but the PPP is siding with the people of Kashmir and remained loyal to them.

Accusing the PML-N leadership of crying over the Musharraf issue, Zardari said it is once again blowing the trumpet of his trial, whereas the present rulers admitted before the courts that they had no objection if the former president wanted to leave Pakistan. He alleged that Nawaz had looted the wealth of Pakistan and also stole the mandate of the Azad Kashmir people with the help of a business tycoon whose name would also be disclosed soon.

“I have shown I am capable of doing what I say,” said Zardari while commenting on the Balochistan situation where the PML-N has recently lost its government. “We can oust the government whenever we so desire. The end of Balochistan government is a proof of that,” he remarked.

He claimed that the PPP would form governments in all the four provinces, Centre and also win the Senate polls. “There will be no more rigging now. The PPP is going to winthe next general elections. Rigging is out of question now after we have passed legislation through parliament,” said Zardari. He stated Pakistan possesses remarkable geo-strategic significance and is a strong country from every point of view due to which the number of its enemies is also on the rise. He said the economy is vital to the progress of a country and even armies fought battles over that.

Former Senate chairman Nayyar Hussain Bokhari in his speech said the gathering is an eye-opener for all those who were claiming that the PPP’s era in the Punjab was over. The PPP has undone the perception given by the rulers of Punjab after the last joint opposition gathering, he added. He said Nawaz is begging for public sympathy as he did not have anything to his credit on the basis of which he could plead his case and is facing complete political bankruptcy.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said the disqualified prime minister, who is found raising question in public about his disqualification, must visit the PPP meeting venue to get an answer of PPP’s popularity.

Khursheed Shah said Nawaz was disqualified because he ignored the Kashmir issue and preferred to pursue his own agenda of friendship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chaudhry Latif Akbar said only the PPP has advocated the case of Kashmir and was capable of steering the country out of crisis.

Qamar Zaman Kaira, during his address in Punjabi language, said the people of Punjab had once again given their verdict. The Punjab chief minister has been making tall claims of good governance whereas, in reality, massive corruption is underway through the 60 companies whose officials are paid hefty salaries from the public money.

Kaira alleged that the said companies are playing the role similar of that of East India Company during Mughal era. Other party leaders Yousaf Raza Gilani, Aitzaz Ahsan, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Chaudhry Manzoor and Samina Khalid Ghurki also addressed the gathering.
