Spring agony for pollen allergy patients

Islamabad: The temperature is highly correlated with pollen concentration so if the day temperature would rise above than 25 degree centigrade for a week during the spring the patients of pollen allergy would face somewhat difficulties to cope with the situation.

According to a report, a direct link of global changes to Pakistan’s climate system and its impacts on pollen concentration is now quite obvious and the relevant authorities should take measures keeping in view these ground realities.

“The victims suffering from allergy will remain in agony throughout March to till mid of April. The spell of rain during March will keep the pollen quantity by and large in length and breadth of the city at unbearable level,” it said.

It raised the question that what extent has climate change affected the pattern and frequency of rain and exacerbated the spread of pollen allergies.

It also underlined the need to carry out extensive research at a much larger scale to identify the causes of the allergies and come up with some concrete recommendations to successfully manage the health problems at hand.
