Man dies, wife injured in house fire

LAHORE: A 25-year-old man was killed and his wife injured when a fire broke out in a house at Factory Area on Friday.

The cause of the fire was stated to be a short-circuit. The deceased was identified as Rafi, a resident of Muhammad Ali Colony, Chungi Amarsadhu. The injured woman, identified as Iqra, was admitted to hospital. Firefighters extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. cars recovered: The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff arrested two car and bike thieves and recovered five cars and six bikes from their possession.

Illegal arms were also seized from the arrested thieves, identified as Aziz-ur-Rehman and Waseem. Police recovered five cars and six bikes from them.

The DIG directed the officers to carefully investigate the cases registered under Section 376 PPC. He said that the officers, in such cases, should timely rush to the crime scene, collect all forensic evidences and send them to Forensic Science Laboratory so that the culprits could be identified and taken to task.

ACE: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Punjab Umar Rasool Friday visited the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab Headquarters and reviewed its overall working.

Chairing a meeting, the ACS also reviewed the cases and the inquiries under investigation at the ACE. ACE Punjab Director General Brig (retd) Muzzaffar Ali Ranjha, Additional Director General Nadeem Sarwar, ACE Lahore Director Adnan Olakh and other officials attended the meeting.

According to a press release, the DG briefed the ACS on the working of the organisation and other related issues. The DG said ACE received highest complaints from the finance and revenue departments. Later, Umar Rasool also inspected one-window operation desk.

arrested: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials Friday at Allama Iqbal Airport barred two passengers from travelling abroad.

According to an FIA official, the barred persons were identified as Mehran Akram Qadir of Pakpattan and Naveed of Mardan. Mehran was travelling on fake work permit whereas Naveed was on black list category. Both were handed over to FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Cell for further investigations.

IT projects: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Arif Nawaz Khan has said that Punjab Police should represent its IT projects and innovative reforms in working system in the upcoming National Police Summit and Expo at Islamabad.

During a meeting held at Central Police Office on Friday, he said the Punjab Police officers should also share the projects with other provisional police departments and intelligence agencies so that all police forces might get benefit from the new reforms and IT projects pertaining to modern policing by collaborating with each other.

The IG said the Punjab Police projects, including the front desk project, complaint management system, human resource management system, Welfare Eye, Local Eye, criminal record management system, SPU, PERU, Anti-Riot Force and paperless working, must be displayed at the National Police Summit and Expo.
