The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will start building a flyover at Korangi Crossing soon, for which the tendering process is under way, said the KMC administrator on Thursday.
The flyover would help ease traffic congestion and resolve the problem of frequent traffic jams at his busy intersection, Saqib Ahmed Soomro said while giving instructions to the technical services department regarding the project.
He directed Director General Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro to speed up ground work and other formalities so that the flyover could be made in the shortest possible time.
The KMC head said a good number of vehicles used the intersection on a daily basis and, in order to ease the traffic congestion, it had become essential to construct a flyover there.
The technical services director general informed the administrator that the pre-qualification/shortlisting process for consultants was under way. He said the consulting firm would provide the engineering and other services, including a survey of site, a study of the ground, the preparation of feasibility and tender documents.
The KMC has directed interested consultant firms to submit the required information for shortlisting/pre-qualification by April 2 at the office of the technical services director general.
