DPOs given one monthto improve performance

LAHORE: Punjab IG Arif Nawaz Khan has expressed anger on DPOs of Okara, Kasur, Attock, Jhelum and DG Khan over their failure to control crimes in their respective districts.

He gave them one-month deadline to improve their progress, saying protection of wealth and lives of people is prime responsibility of police for which they should work with true spirit and good heart.

He expressed this while chairing a video link conference of RPOs and DPOs at Central Police Office. The crime graphs of all districts of Punjab from January 1 December 31, 2017 were assessed. The IG directed all other RPOs and DPOs to follow parameters of reducing crimes and increase submission of challans with zeal.

He said cases of child abuse should be taken on preferential basis and an immediate strict action will be taken against those officials who procrastinate legal proceedings. The IG has directed to all officers that all districts should ensure establishment of riot force following parameters of Lahore Police.

He directed Addl IG Training on this occasion that all available resources should be utilised for modern techniques and quick training to officials of this riot force should be ensured in all districts.

He said front desk is an unprecedented example of IT reforms which is showing satisfactory results, therefore this project should remain in priorities of all RPOs and DPOs and if it is overlooked then no one should expect leniency from him.

He directed field officers that complaints received by Complaint Management System 8787 should be responded to complainant by respective DSPs within 8 hours, in case of dereliction, DSPs should be ready for strict disciplinary action. He directed that death under police custody or absconsion of culprits from police arrest shall not be tolerated and a strict legal and departmental action will be taken against officials who are found responsible for that.

The IG directed that officers who have not written ACRs of their subordinates in time, they will not only be sent letters of depreciation but also their ACRs shall also be barred. Meanwhile, he appreciated the performance of RPO Faisalabad Bilal Siddique Kamyana.

RESCUE 1122: On directions of Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer, Community Training Instructors Development Course has been organised at Emergency Services Academy. This five-day training programme “Training for Instructors-CADRE Instructors Workshop (TFI-CIW)” has been arranged for 24 Rescue & Safety Officers from all over the Punjab. Speaking on the opening ceremony, Dr Rizwan Naseer said Rescue 1122 is committed to establishing Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) at Union Council level, training them to respond in an organised manner, deploy all CERTs to promote safety, which is possible through instructor development course as trained instructors can play pivotal role to promote safety culture in communities.

The said that the basic purpose to conduct advance training courses for instructors and middle management of the service is to augment aptitude of the officers for unsurpassed delivery of knowledge to communities while maintaining the service standards in all districts of the Punjab.

He asked the participants of the course to harness their professional skills and expertise and utilise them in practical field in any emergency or disaster. In first session, 24 participants have been selected for this advance training course from 58 successful participants for TFI-CIW and instructors shall be trained on Communication & Platform Skills, Informing, Persuading & Instructing, Setting Purpose & Objectives of a lesson, Planning a Lesson, Preparation of Communicative Visuals, Method of Instruction, Classroom Management, Testing & Evaluation techniques, Principal of Adult Learning, CADRE course Evaluation System, Practical and Individual Lecture Presentations.

All participants shall be evaluated through individual presentation, practical demonstration and team work. The course shall be ended on February 2, and successful participants shall be presented with certificates of completion.
