Metro project workers break gas pipeline in Rawalpindi
Domestic, commercial users facing supply shutdown for four days

Islamabad: Metro project workers while digging drain at Shamsabad, Benazir Bhutto Road, broke down gas pipeline on Sunday evening and the gas supply could not be restored to the consumers on fourth day Wednesday by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) workers.
Rainwater is seeping into the gas pipelines and entering the gas meters as a result hundreds of domestic, commercial gas burners went cold and the local population was forced to run for cooked up meals from far away destinations.
The local population has threatened to block Benazir Bhutto Road and stage a sit-in if the gas supply is not restored by Wednesday night.Worst was the attitude of SNGPL complaint office which in first place did not receive the complaints and then delayed remedial activity till Monday afternoon when they found water to have seeped into the gas supply lines and chocking the supply to several streets in the locality.
A team led by a technical official did come to the spot and sucked water from one pipeline and then left back due to lack of expertise to rectify the problem.SNGPL General Manager, company’s emergency cell duty officer were contacted by ‘The News’ several times but no responsible official was available for comments.
