MARDAN: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) head Sirajul Haq said on Sunday that his party wanted to bring about change in the society through the ballot and not through the bullet.

Talking to reporters at the residence of JI local leader Waqar Khan, he said that Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam and its people rendered great sacrifices for the country.

JI provincial head Mushtaq Ahmed, district head Dr Attaur Rehman and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion.

He added that the British laws still prevailed in the country which was created in the name of Islam.

The JI chief said the system in vogue in the country perpetuated tyranny and oppression. “This system backs the corrupt, capitalists and landlords,” he remarked.

Holding the rulers accountable for all the ills, Sirajul Haq said the courts were not providing justice and there were no facilities in hospitals.
