Islamabad: The Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising non-gazetted employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), has written a letter to top management expressing concern over activities of a private housing scheme on the premises of the hospital.
The JAC, through the letter, has called upon the vice chancellor of the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University to immediately order closure of office of the PIMS Employees Housing Scheme in the hospital observing that a private housing scheme cannot function inside the hospital.
The JAC demanded of the vice chancellor to order removal of banner displayed by the private housing scheme.
In the letter, the JAC requested the VC to officially call a meeting of the PIMS Housing Society in which two local MNAs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Asad Umar should also be invited. “We do not agree with the private housing scheme and want that our demands should be met otherwise we will start our protest from Thursday (today),” the letter said.
The private housing scheme was established by some employees of the PIMS and it had no official status, therefore, the JAC felt that its activities within the hospital should be banned. The private housing scheme had created some directors and other office-bearers from within the employees.
