Punjab Women Development Minister Hameeda Waheeduddin and Population Welfare Minister Zakia Shahnawaz have said arrangements are being finalised to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.
The ministers were chairing a meeting at 7-Club Road on Wednesday. Secretary to Chief Minister Imdad Ullah Bosal, Provincial Secretary Irum Bukhari, Additional Secretary Ambreen Sajid and representatives of the departments concerned were present.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements and programmes to be held at Awan-e-Iqbal in connection with the International Women’s Day. They said foolproof security arrangements would be made for the function and instructions had been issued.
The ministers said the Punjab government was taking revolutionary steps for the empowerment of women.
Later, Minister Hameeda Waheeduddin inaugurated day-care centre at Punjab Institute of Cardiology set up with the cooperation of Women Development Department.
