LAHORE
A HIGH-LEVEL delegation of the Chinese education experts on Wednesday visited Government College University Lahore and met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman to discuss the scope of collaborations between GCU and Chinese universities.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the six-member delegation, led by Beijing Municipal Education Commission (BMEC) Deputy Director General Zheng Degnwen, also included Capital Normal University, China Vice-President Shen Qainfan, Beijing International Education Exchange Centre Director Gu Taingang, Xicheng District Commission of Education Vice-Director Zhang Yanjun and Chinese Embassy Islamabad Cultural Attache Simin Chen. The Chinese delegation discussed with the vice-chancellor in detail the scope of the student and faculty exchange programmes, joint research projects and academic programmes offered by GC University Lahore. The meeting also pondered over the issues related to language and cultural barriers.
Speaking on the occasion, Zheng Degnwen shared good news that a large number of scholarships were available for Pakistani students for studying in Beijing universities. He also pledged to provide scholarships to GCU students for exchange programmes with Beijing universities. Talking to the delegation, Vice-Chancellor Prof Rehman said GCU had active academic linkages with seven Chinese universities.
