Fighting the flu

This refers to the news report, ‘NIH asks health authorities to take measures against seasonal flu’ (Jan 23). Ever since the outbreak of the deadly H1N1 virus, more than 30 people have lost their lives. There is a dire need to take remedial measures to combat this viral disease. Awareness campaigns should be held to educate people how they can protect themselves from the virus.

Since this disease is contagious, people should be careful when meeting a person who has this disease. The National Institute of Health and other provincial health authorities must provide free vaccines to hospital so that every patient can be treated on an urgent basis.
