NIH, GCISC to promote research on climate change
Islamabad: The National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Global Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC) Monday signed a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) for promotion of joint activities including commissioning of research studies on climate change and its impacts on human health, training and capacity building, exchange of technical personnel, and sharing of data, publications and reports.
NIH and GCISC, which share common objectives vis-a-vis scientific research on climate change, will extend this cooperation to health surveillance, monitoring of environmental health factors, as well as public awareness, advocacy and inter-sectoral cooperation with other stakeholders and policy development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the representatives of both organisations reiterated the need to promote environmental health and mitigate threats of public health importance.
