Marriyum condemns Imran’s remarks about Parliament
ISLAMABAD: The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, condemning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s remarks about parliament, said this is a democratic institution established with votes of people.
In an interview, she said that Imran Khan should have withdrawn his statement in a news conference. She stated that criticism is right of the opposition, but using such derogatory words for parliament is not acceptable at all. She was of the opinion that all parties have representation in parliament and such remarks by a party leader to his native institutions from where he is getting even salary are beyond understanding.
The state minister said that not only the ruling PML-N but all the political parties have condemned the statement of PTI’s chief Imran Khan.
Later, talking to an All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) delegation, she said the present government firmly believes in right to freedom of expression and would continue to facilitate the growth of free and responsible media in the country. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that journalist safety and security bill is in the pipeline which would prove instrumental to ensuring protection and safety of journalists.
