ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is set to take many innovative steps to facilitate general public and also launching huge service centres of international standard instead of many scattered small centres in all cities starting from federal capital.
The philosophy behind Nadra’s new approach is that a citizen is expected to visit a Nadra centre once in a decade and thus there is no problem if he has to travel a bit long distance but it will be made hundred percent sure that he/she has not to visit centre again for one job.
According to sources, every new extraordinarily large Nadra centre will have big number of counters including three to four dozen separate counters for women and senior citizens. According to Nadra officials, this approach will save citizens from waiting in long queues and repeatedly visiting Nadra centres simply to obtain their new CNIC or to renew it. Senior officials say that the large centres would be highly secured and will be providing a state of the art working environment and public service.
Nadra officials are working to finalise an idea that any person would be able to visit a new large Nadra centre only after making a telephone call to the Nadra help centre from where he will seek an appointment to his nearest centre.
The help centre will ask the citizen about purpose of his/her visit and inform to only visit the centre after taking with him certain required documents so he may not have to visit the centre more than once for a single job.
Calling Nadra help centres on standard rates to seek an appointment will not be a problem even for the villagers after such a high tele-density ratio in Pakistan and this call would also save them from unnecessary hassles.
Nadra officials say that if any attestation of CNIC forms will be required, the citizens will not be asked to visit again and they will be asked to simply post those forms in given self-addressed envelopes. NADRA will take all details, finger prints etc during physical presence of the person in Nadra centre. Citizens will also be given option of sending scans of any missing documents through email if he/she has physically visited and provided all his mandatory data to authority.
Nadra officials say that new centres will be cost effective and the project to launch these new international level centres will be initiated in next few months with the opening of first centre in Islamabad.
