SYDNEY: Sydney Thunder spinner Arjun Nair was banned from bowling in domestic cricket following a breach of protocol that took place during a test conducted on him after his action was reported by match officials during the game Big Bash League (BBL) game against Hobart Hurricanes on December 30. During the test conducted at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, Nair bowled with a “markedly different” action from what he generally does - a breach of Cricket Australia’s protocol worthy of a bowling ban of at least 90 days. “Arjun is a talented and popular member of our club,” Sydney Thunder General Manager Lee Germon told Cricket Australia’s website. “We believe he will have a long and successful career with Sydney Thunder and shall support him through this process.” The ban on mystery spinner, who has picked the carrom ball from watching footages of Windies spinner Narine, comes across as a major dent to the Thunder although they are placed second from bottom of the points table in the ongoing edition of Big Bash. Nair has picked nine wickets in the season at an average of 22.77.
