RISJA delegation meets Aurangzeb
ISLAMABAD: Minister for State for Information and Broadcasting Marryam Aurangzeb said his government believed in promoting soft image of the country saying ‘there is no better option to achieve that goal then to promote sports, culture and national heritage’.
Speaking to Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) delegation headed by its newly elected president Afzal Javed, the Minister said all efforts would be made to invest in sports and all those activities that could bring good name to the country. “Since we took over, our effort has always been to promote a culture of healthy activities. This includes investment in sports, culture and national heritage.” Marryam Aurangzeb said with the help and coordination of government, armed forces and security agencies, the country was now safe to hold international events. “We have fought and won battle against terrorism with the help and coordination of all stakeholders. Now we are in a position to organize international sports and culture events.” The Minister said sports was the best medium to promote country’s image abroad. “The PML (N) government in Punjab and Centre are making all out efforts to broaden sports infrastructure and organize national and international events with the help of sports federations.”
